Rich List

Behold Rose Blake's cover illustration for a 16 page supplement inside The Sunday Times Magazine last weekend. The cover portrays an 'alternative rich list' compiled of 40 people (actually 42 as there are two couples) who are driven by something different- so rich from life and what they do for a living as opposed to just rich from money. What an outstanding array of interesting people - nice work Rose!

Green Goods

The wonderfully raw paint marks of illustrator Aitch sets the tone for the cover of the Green Kitchen cookbook. This latest publication by David Frenkiel and Luise Vindahl is said to already have a cult following for it's exciting vegetarian recipes. Unfortunately as it sometimes goes in the competative artistic world, the final publish favoured a photography route. Nonetheless, we think this wrap cover deserves to be laid out and shared for you all to sample.

Wise Words

For a sensitive feature on teaching and our learning environment, Whooli Chen's insightful illustration has been paired harmoniously with some equally penetrative writing. As the author puts it: "The unexpected education we receive, the experiential moments we remember with friends, teachers, parents, siblings, colleagues are all reminders that emotions and experiences are powerful catalysts for learning, connecting, and even healing.”

A Year in the Garden

She's got strength of line and a bold cut and is probably just as good with the garden tools as her printmaking tools. For Dan Pearson's book Natural Selection linocutter Clare Melinksy has charmed us all with her fresh botanical prints. Cast your eyes over this crisp cover and some of the tactile details found inside and make sure read this wonderful interveiw with Clare with Dig Delve.

Pockets

Rose Blake has collaborated with Drakes and designed a beautiful collection fo pocket squares. Blake’s concept was to create a range of pocket squares that both reflect and could be worn by a series of different Drake’s-wearing men.

“I came up with these six characters that would potentially wear Drake’s collections, which were the Seafarer, the Globetrotter, the Creator, the Thinker, the Stargazer and the Explorer. I made a pocket square for each character. And then I kind of had the idea that, because each character is linked in a certain way, other than them wearing Drake’s, they’re all linked by the sun or the moon.”

Which are you?
