Jakob Exhibits

Our favourite cookie monster and seriously talented artist Jakob Hinrichs is exhibiting his work in France...

"The Jakob Hinrichs exhibition, in partnership with the Franco-German Center for Provence, offers for the first time in France a broad overview of the artist's talent through the numerous preparatory drawings, sketches and original plates of his adaptations, but also Personal works and projects that remained unpublished in the hexagon, as his very nice contribution to the collective work A Graphic Cosmogony . The idea of Jakob: revisit - nothing less - the myth of the creation of the world ... in 7 pages of course."

The Taming of the Shrewd

We have a world full of digital apps that give you an answer in milliseconds and a brain overlaoded with funny cat videos - who better to turn to for a running commentary on our bizarre world than our very own Stephen Collins. We can't help but LOL at his shrewd genius. Here's a selection of some of our favourite comic strips for The Guardian Weekend.

Faces

It's been a while since Lesley Buckingham showed off her portraiture skills. Her brush flourishes with ease and her pallettes create a subtle sense of depth. Delicate but definite - we're excited to see more!

Travelling Light

Jeff Fisher is famous for his unique painterly marks that create atsmosphere and texture. With such a timeless aesthetic it's no wonder he is so prolific in the publishing world. His latest cover is for campaigner, publisher and wanderer Alastair Sawday, who has spent his life travelling. En route he has unearthed a multitude of stories - stories of people ploughing their own furrows, of travellers' tales, stories from the 'front line' of his publishing, ruminations and reflections about places, people and ideas. In this deeply charming, erudite and spirited book, he shares his experiences and explores the value of travel. Published with Little, Brown

Rich List

Behold Rose Blake's cover illustration for a 16 page supplement inside The Sunday Times Magazine last weekend. The cover portrays an 'alternative rich list' compiled of 40 people (actually 42 as there are two couples) who are driven by something different- so rich from life and what they do for a living as opposed to just rich from money. What an outstanding array of interesting people - nice work Rose!

Green Goods

The wonderfully raw paint marks of illustrator Aitch sets the tone for the cover of the Green Kitchen cookbook. This latest publication by David Frenkiel and Luise Vindahl is said to already have a cult following for it's exciting vegetarian recipes. Unfortunately as it sometimes goes in the competative artistic world, the final publish favoured a photography route. Nonetheless, we think this wrap cover deserves to be laid out and shared for you all to sample.
