ABC

Toby Leigh has got your adult alphabet down and its a barrell of mischievous laughs. It’s a parody of the classic 1970s children’s ABC books from yesteryear, but the childlike words - Dog, Queen, Apple etc have been twisted into sinister adult themes through the illustrations.

Toby made a little promo film which you can watch on the crowdfunding page.

Bladerunner

Sam Gilbey has been exploring a looser dry brush style in contrast to his more detailed and realistic digital painting we are more familiar with. As a result we've been the recipients of 4 lively Blade Runner portraits. Thank you Sam we love the immediacy of these and how successfully you capture the light and shade.

John LeCarre

With graphic cinematic flare his style sits firmly in poster art. With bold shading and dynamic imagery Matt Taylor knows how to interpret any narrative, film or title. This piece is from a recent project with Penguin Random House. Matt produced a series of cover artworks for a selection of titles and the upcoming memoir by John leCarre.

We can't help but LOL at his shrewd genius. Here's a selection of some of our favourite comic strips for The Guardian Weekend.

The Final Cut

It's a wavy and tumultous journey for the artists and actors and other creative talent trying to make a living out of their craft. Some of the finest and most interesting work doesn't always make it to the final cut. With that mind we want to say 'chin up' to all of you who are making your creative journey. To put it into context - some of these truly goreuous, inky stills are from an animated project with Google that got put on the back burner. We'll never know how these animated scenes might have evolved - but we do know for sure that illustrator Stephen Collins is a very talented and versatile craftsmen who keeps moving, surprising and dazzling us with his skill.
